O Último Prefixo (or The Last Prefix) is a visual and material study of human existence developed through the collection’s Spring 2022/23 fashion show and its concluding autumn exhibition, conceived as a fall closing ceremony. Centred on the imagined memory of Neohominidae, the project examines how material traces and the inevitable regeneration of matter establish an interdependent system within the physical conditions of life. Informed by eschatological thought, the collection displaces the human being from a dominant position in the hierarchy of survival, proposing instead a vulnerable and transient participant within a broader ecological continuum.
Garment surfaces are developed through the exploration of bacterial and botanical cultures, whose changing states demonstrate the volatility of material presence. Across the runway and the final autumn ceremony, organisms consume, appropriate, and regenerate the collection, establishing a metaphysical dialogue about interdependence, decay, and continuation.
The project culminates in an autumn closing ceremony, where the collection is buried, mourned, and reintroduced as matter in transition.
In this passage from wrapping a chapter, The Last Prefix frames fashion as a regenerative practice through which endings become thresholds for further material and conceptual life.
